How to capitalize on Fashion Week

Just because New York women have stopped buying from Bergdorf's and have started shopping at J. Crew, doesn’t mean they wouldn't spend a few hundred bucks for tickets to a runway show.

American Express told the Wall Street Journal that 97% of their $150 - $250 Fashion Week packages sold in just five days.

André Leon Talley, Diane von Furstenberg, and Anna Wintour

Most of those tickets are to the Diane von Furstenburg show - not the Fall 09 show editors and buyers will be attending, but a totally separate event where American Express card members can experience "a multi-season selection of her sought-after designs", which basically translates into a runway show full of her Spring 09 looks. As in, the collection you can already order on her website.

Personally, I'd rather spend $200 on a new pair of shoes, but maybe what these women are actually looking forward to is Diane discussing her life's lessons with André Leon Talley, which will take place prior to the show.

I think I'll just wait for it to air on next season's episodes of The City.
